Skills for Sustainability: Putting the Pieces Together

31st March - 2nd April 2008 University of Exeter

THE annual environmental and sustainability event for the UK Further and Higher Education sector was a great success, with almost 300 delegates.

Presentations from the event are now available on the EAUC website: www.eauc.org.uk/presentations

There is now huge pressure on university and college staff and students to become more engaged with sustainability and sustainable development practice. Yet most staff development programmes and academic curricula still fail to deliver the competencies, knowledge, skills and attitudes needed if the goal of sustainability is to be achieved.

As the key annual sustainability event for UK Further and Higher Education, this important conference encouraged and inspired delegates to identify essential skills and knowledge and go on to equip them to embed skills for sustainability in their own staff and students.

Keynote Speakers included:

  • Rob Wye, LSC
  • Di Dale, Association of Colleges
  • Baroness Morgan, DIUS
  • Ann Finlayson, Sustainable Development Commission.
