Carbon Trust support

Higher and Further Education Sector: The Carbon Trust provides information and support relating to improving energy management targeted at the Higher and Further Education sector. Energy efficiency is a major component of the wider issue of environmental management at FE organisations. Several FE organisations have energy bills in excess of £1 million a year, where potential energy savings of up to 23% are generally achievable.

Good housekeeping is one of the greatest opportunities to save energy within the sector. Many FE organisations have made reducing energy consumption a focus for staff by devolving energy budgets.

Some further support the Carbon Trust provides includes the following approaches:

  • Site visits: Free onsite energy surveys or detailed assessments of specific energy efficiency issues are available free of charge.
  • Design advice: The Carbon Trust offers professional, independent and objective advice covering energy efficient and environmentally conscious building design. The service provides one day of general project consultancy, paid for by a cashback scheme.
