Building Capacity in Construction in the East Midlands
A partnership of six East Midlands colleges successfully applied
for funding to tackle inertia in the construction sector linked to
changes in Building Regulations, the Code for Sustainable Homes
(CSH) and Building Research Establishment Energy Assessment Method
(BREEAM)
The funding paid for six specialists – one at each college
– to research innovations in various aspects of sustainable
construction and for these products to be showcased at events
throughout the region. The result is a better-prepared construction
sector in the Midlands, but also a recognition of the skills of the
FE sector and its value in helping industry meet its sustainability
obligations.
