The Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) Topic Support Network and Learning for Sustainability Scotland FHE Task Group will be meeting virtually to explore the new QAA / Advance HE Guidance on Education for Sustainable Development. This is an EAUC-Scotland event open to attendees from around the UK and observers from around the world.

Background

QAA and Advance HE have launched new guidance on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) for UK higher education providers. Find out more about the Guidance in our News Article on the launch here.

Earlier Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) Guidance was developed and published in 2014 and, in 2020-21, this underwent a major review. Our Network submitted a response as part of the consultation that informed the new Guidance.

The new Guidance builds upon the concept of education for sustainable development, identifies a process for implementation and offers a toolkit for designing education for sustainable development into curricula.

Event Agenda

The Agenda is available to download below, and includes an introduction to the guidance, insight into implementation plans from staff within a range of positions within higher education institutions as well as the Co-Chairs of the Advisory Group for the Guidance, and an open discussion on barriers to implementation and opportunities the guidance presents for individual attendees.
