The government estimates that around 11,500 organisations will qualify for SECR.

The SECR legislation applies to UK incorporated companies and LLPs that qualify as large under the Companies Act 2006 and, as such, higher education corporations are out of scope. If however a higher education institution owns a registered business that would be in scope of SECR, those businesses would not be exempt from reporting SECR information regardless of their links to a university or any other public sector body. As such, those businesses would be required to report SECR information in their Directors’ Report alongside their other company reporting obligations.

If your institution falls under this categorisation and you are required to report, we encourage you to join this interactive webinar to find out what SECR means practically for your organisation, and hear experiences from their expert panelists on how to get the most value from your Energy and Carbon Reporting.
