This free one-day conference will inspire and equip staff, students and businesses to deliver sustainability projects and solutions.  Throughout the day we will explore how universities and  students’  unions  can  foster  a partnership  approach  to  sustainability  and  the  positive impacts such collaborations achieve - empowering students for action, benefiting the local community, and improving university and students’ union reputations nationally.

The day will begin with a keynote by Jamie Agombar from NUS, winner of the 2014 Inspiring Leader of the Year in the Guardian University Awards. Other contributions will include the award-winning  sustainability  partnership  from  the  University  of  Southampton  Students’ Union and the University of Southampton, as well as networking opportunities throughout the day. The conference will provide you with fresh inspiration, ideas and tools to partner with those around you to take action for sustainability.

The conference also provides the opportunity to hear about the BEES programme (Business Ethics and Environment Students).  This SGF Funded project aims to enhance business ethics and environmental practices of local organisations through student-led audits and solutions.  It has created beneficial change in businesses, improved student’s skills and employability, and is  an  example  of  partnership  working  between  the  University  and  Students’  Union.    We expect to roll out this project to interested HEIs across the country next year and this is your chance to hear about these plans and how the project could benefit you.

The  conference  is  free  to  attend,  but  a  place  must be  reserved.    Please  register  online: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/students-and-businesses-transforming-their-city-registration-16141909887

Students travelling from outside Southampton can apply for £40 travel subsidy by ticking the appropriate box during registration.  Please note that this is limited to the first 25 students, so please register early to avoid disappointment.  This subsidy will be paid at the conference and we will confirm that you have been accepted for this beforehand.
