Are you involved in growing food on your campus?

Join dozens of other students and staff from across the UK at the annual Student Eats conference at Lancaster University.

Gain new knowledge by participating in a series of workshops, learn from each other’s good practice and leave equipped with new skills and connections.

What will happen on the day?

In addition to hearing about the current state of our food system from Sustain and how local Student Eats is making a difference across campuses and communities, there will be a series of workshops about food growing, sustainable food on campus, food enterprises and skill sharing.

1. Growing skills
1.1 Growing multicultural and unusual crops

1.4 Keeping chickens on campus

2. Sustainable food on campus
2.1 Working in collaboration with catering
2.2 Food for Life Partnership, a whole campus approach in partnership with the Soil Association
2.3 MetMunch, a creative approach to nutrition

3. Enterprise
3.1 Farmers markets, food coops and veg bag schemes
3.2 MetMunch, a student food enterprise
3.3 Multicultural crops for enterprise
3.4 Setting up social enterprise with the Plunkett Foundation

The location

At the Edible Campus of Lancaster University, six acres of growing space is spread across the campus, and embedded into the life of the university. Pick your own fruit areas, chickens coup and beehives have been recently added to their orchard and vegetable growing areas. There will be opportunities to explore the site through guided tours and workshops.

Costs

The event is free for delegates from Student Eats member groups. It costs £25 for students and £50 for staff from elsewhere, and includes lunch and refreshments.
