This full day course is the official Chartered Institution of Wastes Management Foundation level Waste Smart Training, run by the EAUC in collaboration with trainer Dr. Ann Galbraith who has over over 40 years of experience in the sector.

Why me?

The Foundation level of this course is aimed at anyone who generates, handles or manages waste as part of their role within any given business. It provides the information necessary to make astute and efficient waste related decisions, whilst increasing sustainability and improving performance. 

The course is delivered with a focus on the legislation relevant to those working within Scotland


Aims:

To provide you with the knowledge, understanding and skills to:
  • Prevent wastes arising from workplace activities
  • Contribute to improving the management of wastes that are unavoidable


Course content:

The course is comprised 6 sessions:
  • What is a resource?
  • What is waste?
  • The environmental impact of waste
  • The cost of managing waste
  • Legislation and ensuring compliance
  • Improving how we manage resources and wastes


What will I get out of the course?

Waste Smart is a CIWM industry standard training course designed to offer accessible, practical and sustainable waste and resource management skills. It is designed to help organisations cut their waste costs, comply with all necessary legislation and become more resource efficient.

The course aims to give delegates:
  • An understanding of why improving resource and waste management is important.
  • The knowledge of key regulations and understanding of the responsibilities of those directly involved involved in managing wastes.
  • An understanding of how resource management can be improved through reducing waste in the workplace.
  • The skills to identify improvements in your own workplace.
  • A certificate to demonstrate successful achievement of the course.

The course will start promptly at 9.30am, with Registration and Refreshments available from 9.15am. The course concludes with a short formal written assessment and successful delegates receive a CIWM certificate.
