The University of Manchester’s School Governor Initiative

Winner of the International Green Gown award for Social Responsibility in 2013, The University of Manchester has achieved the fastest rate of growth of volunteer School Governors of any employer in the UK by engaging staff and alumni in supporting the leadership of state schools.

The University partnered with SGOSS - Governors for Schools to pursue this key programme and this webinar shares experiences on how staff and alumni can be engaged as volunteers in social responsibility initiatives and the different ways impact can be captured.

The Green Gown Awards recognise the exceptional sustainability initiatives being undertaken by universities and colleges across the UK. With sustainability moving up the agenda, the Awards have become established as the most prestigious recognition of best practice within the tertiary education sector.
