A workshop exploring duties, challenges and myths in a new era of expectation.
Plus the opportunity to discuss the revised AUCSO Resilience Guide.

This workshop presented by Dr Lucy Easthope, is offered to managers in the HE and FE sector who have responsibilities in their institution’s emergency management process. Participants maybe from Governance, Estates, Security, Health and Safety, Business Continuity, Risk Management, Insurance, Facilities Management or Information Technology Services.

TRAVEL - Aston Business School is 10 minutes walk from Birmingham New Street Railway Station.
Car parking at the venue is available for a small charge but must be booked in advance with Conference Aston.

Delegates should arrive by 09.00 on Wednesday 30 July. Those staying overnight on Tuesday and who have booked dinner, please arrive by 18.30.

DR LUCY EASTHOPE


Lucy is a Tutor in Mass Fatalities and Pandemics at the Centre for Death and Society, University of Bath and a guest lecturer on emergency management programmes at the Universities of Leeds, Leicester, Huddersfield and Teeside.

She also has an affiliate researcher position at the Joint Centre for Disaster Research, Massey University, New Zealand.

She is an Associate Course Director at the Emergency Planning College in Mass Fatalities Planning. Her main consultancy and research areas focus on mass fatalities planning, issues relating to Disaster Victim Identification, community recovery and the care of survivors, the bereaved and the deceased after disaster. She has a special interest in the care and return of personal effects.

Her further research interests include the effectiveness of legislation in the field of emergency management and the human aspects of risk management, insurance and business continuity processes. She presents regularly and engagements include presentations to FEMA, Chinese government representatives, the Metropolitan Police and the American Academy of Forensic Science. Lucy has developed contingency plans, training programmes and exercises with a number of international organisations. She has also participated in the response to major incidents including aviation disasters, the Bali terrorist attacks, and the operations at Brize Norton during the military campaign in Iraq.

Lucy has a law degree from the University of Bristol, an MSc in Risk, Crisis and Disaster Management from the University of Leicester and a doctorate awarded by the Division.
