Sustainable Procurement – Levels 1 & 2 of the Flexible Framework

The aim of this one day event is to help institutions embed sustainability into their purchasing practice using the Government’s Flexible Framework as a guide and monitoring tool. The day will be made up of interactive sessions focusing on an action plan to implement Levels 1 & 2 of the Framework. It will discuss tools, practical examples and tips to help turn this action plan into reality.

Course content
- an Introduction to Sustainable Procurement, the Flexible Framework and related guidance;
- identifying sustainable procurement champions;
- identifying sustainability impacts in the purchasing process;
- producing and communicating a sustainable procurement policy;
- gaining senior management commitment;
- producing a sustainable procurement training programme;
- setting sustainable procurement priorities through spend and supplier analysis;
- undertaking Whole Life Costing analysis;
- adopting ‘quick wins’;
- applying sustainability criteria to contracts;
- implementing a supplier engagement programme; and
- measuring and monitoring sustainable procurement practice.
