Planting Seeds - Carbon Offset Donation from the 2015 EAUC Annual Conference

As part of our sustainable event strategy, we make a carbon offset donation to the institution that hosted the EAUC Annual Conference. We're delighted to share how the University of Leeds plan to use the donation from the 2015 Conference.

Here Kelly Forster, PA/Project Assistant to the Head of Sustainability/Sustainability Service, shares how the donation will be put to good use:

"We were delighted to receive a donation of £250 as the host institution for the EAUC Annual Conference 2015, helping to offset the carbon generated by the event.

The plan is to use the money donated to fund a herb growing area on the roof terrace of University House which will be owned and cared for by one of our Assistant Chefs. The herbs grown will be used by the University of Leeds’ hospitality and fine dining services team.

The project is currently in the planning stage and we hope to have the project completed and in use in the New Year. The project will further enhance the sustainability engagement of catering staff at the University as they continue to support the implementation of the University of Leeds’ Sustainability Strategy."
