Making the Business Case

Latest news

With support from senior sustainability leaders at ten member institutions, this project is building a business case framework to enable members to build an evidenced and bespoke case to institutional leaders. The work will be profiled at the June EAUC Conference.
Activity Background

Our new strategy includes a goal for EAUC to help institution leaders recognise the value sustainability and its leaders bring to delivering key institutional strategic objectives.
In doing so, EAUC wishes to develop a series of business case briefings that will set out a clear, evidence-based value proposition for sustainability.

The briefings will focus on as many as seven big agendas. These are to be agreed during the project, but it is suggested that they will include employability, quality teaching, student experience, internationalism, access and retention, social impact and growth.
EAUC has commissioned the Department of Social Responsibility and Sustainability at the University of Edinburgh to deliver this work, which will involve:
  • designing a framework for the business case briefings;
  • selecting the key institutional SMT-level agendas to focus on;
  • collating evidence about the financial and business benefits of sustainability for each;
  • developing up to seven digital business case briefings, and;
  • promoting the business cases at key sector events.
