Live Chat - Guardian Higher Education Network
With the People & Planet Green League 2013 results being published in The Guardian yesterday (11 June 2013), the whole sector is talking sustainability and asking 'what should be higher education's role in creating a more sustainable environment?'
The People and Planet results nationally were excellent, demonstrating clearly the combined impact of student-led campaigns, sector-wide carbon reduction targets and the growing number of university Vice-Chancellors committed to tackling climate change.
However, it’s not all good news. Some of the biggest universities in the UK are failing to make the connection between their own academics’ research on climate change and their own ethical and environmental efforts.
To discuss the Green League 2013 results and how this is more than just a green issue, the Guardian Higher Education Network will be holding a live web chat on Friday, 14 June.
Asking 'what is higher education's role in creating a more sustainable environment for the wider community, as well as its own students and staff?', the live chat will begin at 12pm. An expert panel, including Harriet Sjerps-Jones representing the EAUC and the University of Exeter, will be discussing how it impacts on leadership, teaching and learning, research, procurement and the overall mission of the university.
