Introduction to sustainability elearning module
We are delighted to be able to offer our Members a fantastic resource as a free benefit of Membership.
The free elearning module is a 20 minute 'introduction to sustainability' and is only available to EAUC Members. It is generic to cover all universities and colleges within the UK. Our aim for the module is that Members will be able to use the module as a tool to engage and introduce sustainability to a target audience of staff and students not currently involved in sustainability issues, such as green champions. It is not aimed at sustainability professionals although they may find it helpful for engagement ideas.
The module is available through our website to view, free to Members (limited to 5 accounts per Member institution) and can be used to engage anyone including managers, heads of department, university stakeholders, academics, students, administration and research staff. There is no tracking capability or linking with individual institutions or HR/training systems. Institutions can choose to bespoke this elearning module and have these added features which you can purchase via Marshall ACM - see below.
About our free elearning module
Users will view various thought-provoking facts and figures to illustrate the positive impact staff, students and the institutions themselves can and do make to driving sustainability forward, including an engaging introduction from the EAUC’s Chief Executive who explains the wider context and a high-level case for change.
The module then moves to its more interactive content with a number of fun tasks that illustrate the positive impact that users can make. This particular section of the module showcases one-fifth of Marshall ACM’s full sustainability elearning course thus demonstrating the potential of the full course.
The final section of the introductory free module demonstrates the EAUC’s role in supporting its Members to establish strong sustainability practices and includes useful links to existing Member resources including the new Sustainability Exchange.
Once users have completed the course you can download a certificate so staff and students can record it in their development folders. Just click on the 'resources' button on the final page to download.
The module has been designed by the EAUC and advised by their Member Advisory Council, a group of EAUC Members who represent the views, needs and requirements of their wider membership. Much of the original content for the module was developed with Stirling University and Durham University.
Ideas of how you can use this resource
• Present the module in a lecture theatre or classroom and go through each section. This would be a bit of a break from a more formal lecture
• Roll it out to all staff as an internal engagement campaign
• Include this presentation as part of new staff induction
• Use it as part of your Green Champion training
• Make it compulsory for students during freshers week so they're aware how they can help
LiFE tip: If you're using LiFE, make sure you add it as evidence of 'Training and Support' or 'Stakeholder Engagement'. Find more LiFE tips here.
