GeM is the new contracts database and eMarketplace for both Higher and Further Education sectors. GeM contains only sector negotiated and approved contracts.

GeM has the potential to provide substantial benefits for users by providing a streamlined process for low value, ad hoc purchases. Improved management information allows users to monitor and evaluate purchasing activity and to collaborate with others to secure improved terms with suppliers

Recent Projects

JISC Procureweb launched an upgrade of its Xchange online portal at the beginning of 2011.

The Xchange portal enables institutions to advertise and sell surplus equipment to between Higher and Further Education institutions, helping institutions to meet comply with relevant environmental legisalation.

Institutions that sell items will potentially benefit from additional income and institutions buying items will be able to stretch their budgets.
