England - South East

Welcome to the EAUC South-East Regional Group

EAUC’s South-East Region covers the counties surrounding London and is one of the most economically active areas in the country. It also contains many of the UK’s leading colleges and universities. Taking time out of the office is difficult but the aim of the group is to share ideas, challenges and resources and feed into the EAUC so you can work collaboratively which will ultimately save precious time.

This group will help EAUC Members to develop their careers and maximise their contribution to sustainable economic development; within their own institutions, across the region, nationally and even globally. Collaborating through online communications, teleconferences, face to face events and webinars, being part of the South-East Region will allow you to be inspired, to connect and learn from colleagues in your area.

A welcome from the Convenor:

Justine Oakes, Sustainability Manager, University of Suffolk

Justine Oakes has been an environmental professional for 20 years; starting her career with the Ministry of Defence and later running her own environmental consultancy for over a decade - working with blue chip companies, SME’s and public sector organisations. The majority of this work has involved contaminated land, EIA’s, renewables and Environmental Management Systems. She is currently the Environment and Sustainability Officer at University Campus Suffolk (now University of Suffolk).

Justine’s current focus is on finding approaches to sustainable development that explore and promote social sustainability, organisational behavioural change and external partnership engagement. A critical challenge to institutes that have low capital investment potential and stretched human resource availability capacity. She is looking forward to working with EAUC member’s in helping raise the collective bar for sustainable development in tertiary education.
