Energy & Water
Almost half of the UK's carbon dioxide emissions actually come from the energy we use every day. In universities and colleges energy efficiency is becoming a major component of the wider issue of environmental management. Several institutions having energy bills well in excess of £1 million a year, where potential energy savings of up to 23% are generally achievable.
There is less water available per person in the UK than in Spain or Portugal. Potable water is also treated before and after use, and heating water accounts for a lot of the energy used, so the more water used, the more energy is needed, contributing to climate change.
