On 22 April it’s Earth Day's 45th anniversary. First organised in 1970 and now with 1 billion people in 192 countries expected to participate it is remarkably one of the largest global movements in the world. Under the theme “it’s our turn to lead” this year’s edition calls upon citizens, educators, corporate leaders, governments and global organisations to take action.

Through a series of event and programmes taking place on Earth Day, the organisers want you to take a stand so that together, we can show the world a new direction. This will ensure that our world leaders can follow by example.

2015 can be the year that individuals at grassroots level take action and make a difference, and global leaders pass a historic binding, global climate treaty. Earth Day Network has interacted with many universities across the globe. Now is the time to join other institutions in making a collective call to action in order to stop the climate crisis that we face.

We wanted to know from our Members how you are supporting and celebrating the day. If you are planning on hosting an event on the day, we want to know! Tell us on Twitter so we can share it across our wider membership.
