DECC consultation on Feed-in Tariffs for solar PV

Comprehensive Review Phase 1:

The EAUC is a truly Member-led organisation. We not only provide you with individual services and support but together as an association we have a strong voice, being heard both inside and outside of the further and higher education sector.

We want to represent you, and ensure that your views on topical issues are conveyed to the rest of the sector and to the Government. One important way
we can do this is by responding to consultations, from the Government and
other organisations.

What's the consultation about?

This consultation from the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC)
invites comments on the Government’s proposals for the tariff levels
available for renewable electricity generation from solar PV installations
of 250kW or below under the Feed-in Tariffs scheme, in England, Wales and
Scotland.

Feed-in Tariffs schemes (FITs) have been a high profile topic of discussion
recently. Through the use of FITs, DECC hopes to encourage deployment of
additional small scale (less than 5MW) low carbon electricity generation,
particularly by organisations, businesses, communities and individuals who
have not traditionally engaged in the electricity market. They believe
this will allow many people to invest in small scale low carbon electricity,
in return for a guaranteed payment for the electricity they generate and
export.

We want to know your thoughts

This consultation asked for your response on the proposed new tariffs,
including how they are applied, eligibility and transitional periods, and is
structured around 13 questions set by DECC. To collect EAUC Members'
responses, these questions were placed into a survey format and Members were invited to comment in December 2011.

This consultation is now closed. Thank you to all our Members who submitted their comments.

Please find the final EAUC response to this consultation below.
