This Thursday 4th September is national Cycle to Work day. This event is championed by multi gold medal winning Paralympic cyclist, Dame Sarah Storey. It aims to encourage everyone to take to two wheels and cycle to work.

Census daya shows that 760,000 people in the UK cycle to work regularly and Cycle to Work Day's is aiming toincrease those numbers this year and beyond! By 2021, it is hoped there will be 1 million people regularly commuting to work by bike.

This aim this year is to improve on last years  20,000 commuters and at least double the number of commuters saddling up. Cycle to Work shares a number of ways to get involved, including:

  •     Promise to get in the saddle on September 4th by pledging miles for cycle to work day here: www.cycletoworkday.org

  •     Share www.cycletoworkday.org on your social media pages and encourage your friends, family and colleagues to sign up and get involved.

  •     If you know a wannabe cyclist in need of a new bike, let them know about the cycle to work scheme.

  •     Ask your employer to get behind the day by offering staff that ride a free coffee and croissant as part of Britain’s Biggest Bike Breakfast.

Some of the EAUC staff will be taking part and cycling to work this Thursday 4th September, we'll share our #cyclingselfies if you do!
