New measures to make buildings more energy efficient, saving one million tonnes of carbon per year will come into effect this April. According to The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and DEFRA, the new measures taken together with 2002 Building Regulations will improve standards by 40%.

Interim versions of Approved Documents for Part F (ventilation) and Part L (energy efficiency) and other supporting material have been published in preparation for the changes to the Building Regulations.
