If you feel like you need some formal training to effectively internally audit your organisation's Environmental Management System (EMS) or you want to make yourself invaluable and turn your current auditing skills to use in the context of an EMS, this course is designed to help you.
The IEMA approved 3 day course provides a comprehensive package which includes all the tools and training necessary to effectively internally audit an EMS to the requirements of ISO 14001:2004 and BS8555. No previous auditing experience is required.
The course gives practical auditing guidance through a combination of presented sessions and practical exercises. Our IEMA registered professionals are experts in auditing and will provide you with practical case studies and exercises to help develop your techniques.
Key learning outcomes?
- Understanding of the systematic approaches and techniques to auditing
- How to effectively carry out an audit and what to look for
- Practical experience of auditing
- The key elements of an ISO14001 system
- Principal environmental impacts of organisations and related legislation
- The course will end with an exam which will give the accreditation

If ever there was a course you needed to go on to catch up with what carbon is all about, this is the one!
‘Know your carbon: the fundamentals” is the one day course aimed at all organisations in the HE/FE sector who are looking to benefit from implementing low carbon strategies at all levels. The course will provide an up-to-date overview of key national strategies and policies, including new requirements for all organisations in the UK, as well as focusing on HE/FE sector-specific commitments.
If you have responsibility for planning carbon or energy management in your college, school or university this course will provide you with an excellent overview of key national targets and the tools and techniques to implement low carbon strategies. It will help you start to recognise the issues and make significant savings.
Key learning outcomes?
- Sound understanding of key national and sector-specific carbon policies, targets and commitments (such as the Carbon Reduction Commitment)
- Ability to review an organisation’s carbon baseline
- Understanding of the practicalities of carbon footprinting
- Knowledge of carbon reduction tools, techniques and ideas
- Practical experience of writing a carbon action plan
- Recognition of the issues and how to start making significant savings
